Understanding the Vision in Business

Author: Joseph Migunda 1 year ago

Businesses emanate from ideas well thought or randomly thought by an individual called an entrepreneur. Vision is something you need to give yourself a picture of how you envision the future of the business. It helps to shape your thinking and conducts of those around when carrying out your business activities. Common practice, entrepreneurs especially those in SME set vision for their businesses just as a requirement for compliance and not something they plan to live and realize it in the course of their endeavors. As a result, many make mistakes in setting up their vision. It may require some advisory support for others to set their own vision but each of us is able to do it and know that it is okay to start it the rough way. The rationale is that you cannot do any type of planning for your business if you cannot envision where your business wants to be. Unfortunately, it is a fact that not all employees are fully aware of where their organization is heading, and having a vision will rectify that problem. All levels of the organization will be kept in the loop, so to speak, and this awareness will give them focus in carrying out their assigned tasks, duties and responsibilities. Therefore vision is a clear declaration of what a company, business or organization wants to achieve or become in the future. Examples - “To make people happy” by Disney - “A just world without poverty” by Oxfarm - “We will destroy Yamaha” by Honda - “To give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected” by Facebook.
